Lash Lift

Q: Can you explain the process during the Lash Lift?
A: Silicone pads that mould to the shape of your lash line are adhered to the eyelid. A bonding gel then grips the natural lashes onto the pads in an upwards and outwards direction, so that the lashes are pointing straight up to the brows. (This is where the technology is more advanced than a lash “perm” as there are no cylindrical rods, which can accidentally over curl the lashes back onto themselves). A perm solution, followed by a neutraliser are applied, followed by a lash conditioner to nourish the natural lashes, and finally a lash tint to complete the transformation.
Q: Why is it so successful in making you look younger?
A: Most women will notice their first fine lines around the sides and beneath the eyes. The lash lift commands so much attention to the lashes – which are practically crawling up the eyelids upwards and outwards – so it draws focus away from those lines. The treatment has become known for making the eye area look instantly refreshed without injections.
Put simply, anything that appears to be defying gravity is preventing the appearance of ageing. Your eyelids will look lifted as well because the new height of the lashes will give the illusion that they’re lifting, not hanging or closing in.
Q: Do certain lashes take to the Lash Lift better?
A: The treatment is only unsuitable to a small percentage of people. If the natural lashes are extremely short then they will not grip upward onto the pads. For optimum results the natural lashes should be a medium to long length and grow straight outward from the roots.
Q: Is this a first advisable step before more invasive action via injectables or surgery around the eyes?
A: Being an eye stylist, I’m a little biased but I truly believe a Lash Lift paired with a brow sculpt is the ultimate eye styling make over. If anyone were considering an eyelift or injectables then this would be the most non-invasive, low maintenance alternative.
Q: Can you use mascara over a Lash Lift?
A: Yes, but never waterproof mascara. And although you can use false lashes too, it’s not advisable. Most clients comment that they can almost feel the lashes hitting the skin beneath their brows, so adding extensions could aggravate the skin.
Q: Is the Lash Lift an improvement on lash extensions?
A: Not necessarily an improvement but people are turning to Lash Lifts as the appointments are less demanding to maintain the effects. Lash extensions can get frustrating for some people nearing when they’re due for an infill every 3-4 weeks. Sometimes gaps can be noticeable and the lashes don’t always behave in an orderly manner – i.e. twisting and turning. Lash Lift is a very low-maintenance, cost-effective alternative to extensions. The only difference is a Lash Lift won’t give you the thickness that an extension can.
Q: Do you think Lash Lift could be the best non-invasive anti-ageing treatment yet?
A: Right now…absolutely. We’re not injecting, cutting or pulling on the skin…we’re simply utilizing the direction of the lashes to create an illusion of “openness” or “life” to the eye.
